So earlier last week I was browsing on the Twitter as you do, and came across one of my mutuals talking about Congolese artists jumping on the Amapiano sound. I was obviously excited to hear what that would sound like, so the mutual forwarded me a link to what she'd been listening to.
I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded. Now I don't know if it's because of how good the artist is, or if it's because Congolese artists are destined to sound good on Amapiano beats; I guess every artist is different.
The song I actually listened to was Innoss B - Muselu ft. Djizzo - I've linked it below. I want to know your thoughts on this... do you think more Congolese artists should test out the Amapiano wave?
Shout out to @lacocoxo on Twitter for the song plug!
Comic Con Africa is back! this time in Johannesburg. An array of fans, gamers and cosplayers took part in the first Comic Con Africa event, since the pandemic. The four-day long convention ran from 22-25 September and is the continent's largest pop culture, fantasy and gaming festival. Thousands of South Africans descended on the Nasrec Expo Centre, south of Johannesburg on Heritage Day for the event.
The third day of the pop culture festival kicked off last Thursday, and saw massive traffic congestion and long queues with a continuous stream of visitors coming through the gates. On the Comic Con Africa show floor, Marvel fans could step into Disney Plus’ mirror dimension inspired by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Netflix Stranger Things activation continued to pump, and cosplayers filled the aisles. SpongeBob Squarepants also made an appearance, and visited fans at the event.
Happy that comic fans across the continent could enjoy this event! Are you into comics? Do you plan on attending the next CCAFRICA? Let us know!
It shouldn't even be a laughing matter, but when I saw this news about Gabonese opposition leader, Guy Nzouba-Ndama, caught "like a rat on the highway" at the Congolese border, with around $2million in a suitcase, I let out a chuckle😭
When will African leaders change? The same people doing campaigns and posing to be a solution to the incumbent problem, that people have associated with injustices for a long time - are the same people stealing whenever they get the chance!
He's been placed under house arrest, five days after he was detained at the Congolese border. The arrest has been filmed and the opening of the suitcases posted on social media. I've included it below for your entertainment.
Nzouba-Ndama is a potential candidate in upcoming presidential elections, and he's now been charged with import controls and cooperation with a foreign power. His party (The Democrats) argue that the accusations are politically motivated.
