Comic Con Africa is back! this time in Johannesburg. An array of fans, gamers and cosplayers took part in the first Comic Con Africa event, since the pandemic. The four-day long convention ran from 22-25 September and is the continent's largest pop culture, fantasy and gaming festival. Thousands of South Africans descended on the Nasrec Expo Centre, south of Johannesburg on Heritage Day for the event.

The third day of the pop culture festival kicked off last Thursday, and saw massive traffic congestion and long queues with a continuous stream of visitors coming through the gates. On the Comic Con Africa show floor, Marvel fans could step into Disney Plus’ mirror dimension inspired by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Netflix Stranger Things activation continued to pump, and cosplayers filled the aisles. SpongeBob Squarepants also made an appearance, and visited fans at the event.

Happy that comic fans across the continent could enjoy this event! Are you into comics? Do you plan on attending the next CCAFRICA? Let us know!
